Week of 4.24.17
Parents, please recall that this week we will participate in the Aspire testing. It is very important to have your child to school ON TIME. We will begin testing each morning immediately following prayers and pledge, with the exception of Wednesday, when we will begin after 8:30 Mass. If your child arrives after testing begins, they will not be allowed in the classroom until testing is completed that day. They will then have to make up that test the following week.
The following are the academic goals for the week:
Religion: Third graders are doing the readings for the Mass this week on Wednesday. Please join us at 8:30 in the church.
Spelling: Our spelling words this week are: above, another, upon, animal, paper, open, family, travel, afraid, nickel, sugar, circus, item gallon, melon, character, cardinal, Oregon, particular, dinosaur. Our spelling test will be Friday morning.
Reading: We will be reading a story in the genre of realistic fiction titled Happy Birthday, Mr. Kang. High frequency/selection words are: narrow, perches, recipe, foreign, foolish, bows, and chilly. Other comprehension skills we will work on are: cause and effect, plot and theme, and common abbrevations. We should be ready for a test on Friday.
Math: We will continue with our chapter on perimeter, area, and volume.
Social Studies: We will continue working on different communities.
Have a wonderful week! Don't hesitate to ask any questions!
