Julie Pacheco
6th Grade

Mrs. Julie Pacheco

Greetings!  I am very excited to join the staff of Holy Cross School.  So far, it has been nothing short of a blessing.  The students, families and staff have made me feel very welcome and I look foward to an exciting year.  Go Chargers!

About Me

I grew up near Baltimore Maryland, where I graduated from a Catholic Preparatory School called Maryvale.  For this reason, I love crabs the O's!  I received my Bachelor’s at Carnegie Mellon University where I studied History and Political Science.  Later, I got my Masters in Education at Duquesne University, also in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.

Soon after, I married a fellow CMU graduate and moved to his home country of Venezuela for three years.  There I taught 6th grade at an International School in Caracas called Colegio Simón Bolívar.  We had our first son, Miguel, in Caracas, and then we moved back to the U.S. in 2006.  We had our second son, Lucas in 2008 and we lived in a small town called Olean New York.  (My life quickly became all about Superheroes and Star Wars.)  When the boys were both in school, I went back to work teaching at an International Baccalaureate school called Southern Tier Catholic and Archbishop Walsh Academy.   There, I taught K-5 Spanish and 7-8 ELA and Science.

I love working with young minds and consider myself a lifelong learner.  I advocate having a growth mindset and working hard to achieve your goals.  In addition, try to promote kindness and acceptance.

When we moved to Buffalo Grove last year, I prayed for an opportunity like this one!   It has been such a blessing, this transition.  The Pachecos are all very happy and we plan to stay for a long time!  Praise God for He is good!
